One of the best things about Summer nights in Sydney, is that it actually stays warm. Back in Auckland, even on a nice day, it is uncommon for it to stay warm at night. The best thing about the continuing heat is that an icy cold smoothie is just what you feel like when you are winding down for the evening.
I love the amazing colours you can get when mixing different fruits together. Berries are probably my favourite as there are so many different types to create a range of different colours. It is these vibrant colours which give berries a lot of their nutritional properties. Remember been told to eat the rainbow? As if we needed an excuse to eat these delicious fruits anyway.
I decided on a mix of raspberries and strawberries this time to create a beautiful pink colour. This smoothie bowl is super simple and nutritious and a great snack for anytime of the day. Add a tbsp. of protein to make it into a complete meal.
- 1 cup mixed raspberries & strawberries (frozen is best)
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 tbsp. cashew nut milk
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2 cup chopped watermelon
- large handful of ice
Blend everything together in a high spend blender and top with your favourite topping. Coconut, bee pollen, extra fruit, chia seeds and nuts are all great.
